Honda to Launch Five New Vehicles in India, Prelude Hybrid Sports Car Among Key Highlights
Honda Cars India will launch five new vehicles by the end of this financial year, including the ZR-V hybrid SUV, a new electric SUV based on the 0 Alpha concept, and globally popular models like the Civic, Accord and CR-V. The company is also evaluating the Honda Prelude hybrid sports car for India as part of its premium expansion strategy.
The company will introduce the ZR-V hybrid SUV by July 2026. Adding to it, the brand’s first electric SUV based on the 0 Alpha concept will be introduced in the first quarter of 2027. The company is also evaluating some of its global icons, including the Honda Civic, Honda Accord and Honda CR-V for the Indian market.
All these models are likely to be brought in as full imports in limited numbers. The Civic, Accord and CR-V are hugely popular among customers in India. These models are offered with hybrid powertrains in markets abroad, and the same are expected to be introduced in the Indian market.
The company could also bring these models via the completely knocked down (CKD) route. Honda Cars India had discontinued the Civic and CR-V in 2020. Both these models were locally assembled at Honda’s manufacturing facility in Greater Noida. Honda’s Greater Noida facility can be used to locally assemble these cars, as the facility has the capability to support CKD assembly operations.
Honda is also considering the Honda Prelude hybrid sports car for the Indian market. The sports car will be positioned as a halo model and brand builder. The new model is expected to cost somewhere around Rs 50 lakh and will emerge as a new alternative to the Skoda Octavia RS.
The two-door sports coupe is based on the Accord sedan and features shark-inspired styling. The Honda Prelude is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, Atkinson cycle direct-injection petrol engine paired with two electric motors. The hybrid powertrain delivers a combined power output of 197bhp and torque output of 315Nm. It is paired with Honda’s new S+ Shift system and comes with four driving modes — Comfort, GT, Sport and Individual.
Honda’s aggressive product strategy signals a renewed focus on premium hybrids, electric mobility and performance-oriented vehicles in India, while reviving globally popular models that continue to hold strong brand recall among Indian customers.
